A very merry Halloween! [Mingle]
Date: 31st of October
Characters: Open!
Warning: Non-sexual desecration of formerly buried corpses
On the morning of Halloween, when people first step out of their houses, they will almost step into something.
A bucket of water. Every flat and every house in the Mossgate Boundary has a bucket placed in front of its entrance door (and sometimes, especially in Folkton and Moss Manor, the back door too), in which scary apples are floating. A little sign taped to the bucket reads: Have fun bobbing!.
But that's not the only thing that happened. The second thing that people will notice is that there are billions of spiders of all sizes crawling all over the town and villages, the military base, the Manor House... everywhere. And they certainly did their job - trees, lanterns, the higher attractions on the pier, and everything else that is high all over Mossgate Council is covered in thick layers of cobweb.
And lastly... those who pass by a church will notice something about the graveyards around them. Namely, that someone placed skeletons on top of most of the graves... Awfully real looking ones. Really, really awfully real looking ones. To some of them, the soil of the graveyard still clings, and the graves underneath them are in a state that betrays that they were dug up during the night. DNA tests would show that, indeed, the skeletons belong to the individuals buried in the graves.

"...Maybe we shouldn't hang around here," he says, hoping to quietly shepherd the little girl off. This is probably not a place for kids. Nel, at least, would have nightmares about this if she saw it.

"They'll probably call the police on this soon," Kitty agrees, and then suddenly stumbles. That sure what a sudden wave of disorientation and dizziness washing over her. She blinks as she finds herself on the ground, and frowns. "What-" Something is wrong.
Something that she can't pin down immediately, but then recognises as: She wasn't wearing a coat moments ago. It's a kind of dirty grey, looking like nothing much at all and definitely not like children's wear, though it is pretty much exactly her size. It also feels... oddly heavy and thick, she thinks. Not like a winter coat, but... heavy and thick. And she's definitely never seen it before.
Which means... that she should really hope that this guy didn't really pay attention to her until now and will just assume that he didn't properly look at what she was wearing.

Admittedly, Feste hadn't been super paying close attention to her outfit before. But. They're pretty sure they would have notice a coat, especially one so out of place on a child. ...Maybe it had been on the ground? Kids sometimes do that right??? That's pretty much the only logical explanation. It's not like a coat can just appear out of nowhere. They must have just missed it before.
The long time they just stare at her probably lets her know that, yes, they did see that, but they don't say anything about it. "I-- are you ok? Did you trip on something?" Yes. This seems like the safer thing to focus on.

"I'm okay. I just haven't eaten yet this morning." She's heard others say that before when they felt woozy in the morning.
And hey, maybe she'll get something to eat for her trouble, she wouldn't say no to that.

And then eyes the food, trying to reason with herself if the granola bar looks good enough to ignore that part of stranger danger and just stick with 'as long as he doesn't know my name it's fine'.
In the end, she mentally shrugs and takes it. She is a bit hungry, after all. Breakfast was a while ago.
"Thanks." And then she starts walking while unwrapping it. He is right that they should leave... "Have you ever been at a crime scene before?"

"I don't think I should be going home."

Bye!" And with a wave, she turns away and heads off.

Feste pouts, watching her run off. ...Well. They do have to go to work, ish. They guess that counts.
