Tarwich Community Centre was used to hosting meetings and gatherings, though none of the staff at the facility were aware of how odd the gathering going on in one their function rooms truly is going to be. All mention of said gathering that was about to start had been kept off of the Network thanks to Sadie's insistence about safety. Some of the food was provided by the community centre, however, the many plates of biscuits were all courtesy of Ben's Aunt Rosemary. Everything was finally ready for the Numbered to start turning up.

"It was weird," he says. "I know I've never been in burning building or an avalanche. I don't even know how to ski. And definitely not when I was a kid. But it felt so real."

There was less than a full second's worth of hesitance, but it was there.

"It seemed more like fiction, compared to your own life? That does seem to be a trend among the Numbered."

"I guess? But I've never seen any fiction like that. Not even in kid's adventure novels."

Walter double-blinks.

"I mean, I know the violence content in media varies by generation, but-"

He shakes his head.

"It's not something you expect someone to just live, you're right."

It's a different kind of strange from the one they're living in right now.

"Did I mention that I'm pretty sure I was younger than seven in these memories?" That was the part he kept getting stuck on.

And now Walter's stuck on that too.

"There's room for precociousness, but..."

Walter just shakes his head, eyes wide.

"Yeah... even fictional kid detectives are usually a little older before they start getting into that kind of trouble."
