Simply Being Loved [Log]
Date: Friday September 13th
Characters: Sadie and Benjiro
Time moves so strangely, folding and expanding with perception until days slip to nights into weeks then to months until a whole year has turned to history in so many moments amid the routine. Although they had met nearly two years ago, it had not been until the Kings and Queens dance that Sadie and Benjiro had decided to transition to something beyond friends. Now, a full year has passed since that night when he first felt the earth move from her kiss. Celebrating to the exact date for their first anniversary in the middle of the week would have been difficult and inconvenient, and they agreed to delay to the start of the weekend.
After Sadie had finished with her classes for University, Benjiro was there waiting on campus to pick her up and ferry her home to change in comfort. Together, they went to dinner at a restaurant in downtown Mossgate with reservations held at one of the high quality venues that has a somewhat more relaxed dress code. Not that Benjiro is not dressed well with a crisp new button top and slacks with a tie, but he feels inadequately dressed without a fitting vest. Benjiro had looked into the floor plan prior to making the reservation, so with a little extra in advance, he had secured a table off in the corner where they could talk more freely.
Not wasting time, Benjiro whisks her away into the evening for a long drive on his motorcycle with her riding up front. Driving away from Mossgate, away even from Moss Manor, Benjiro takes Sadie along an empty road to seemingly no where at all with the sky darkening by the second. He pulls off the road by a tree to park the bike, and makes an odd request; to wear a blindfold for the surprise he has waiting. Once Sadie agrees, he hands her a cloth from his pocket for the task, and waits for her to tie it on to then lean down to kiss her cheek as he scoops her off her feet with a promise, “We’re not far.”
He moves swiftly through the familiar path at a walk that takes advantage of his enhanced strength. The sound of moving water becomes more clear as they travel until they stand beside the river itself. Easing Sadie to her feet, he slides the blindfold away with his breath held in anticipation.
There, beside the water, Benjiro has constructed a temporary haven. Layers of blankets occupy a space on the grass beneath some branches with netting hung around them in a curtain, and with those blankets is a large basket. All around them, the branches of the trees are shining with faerie lights, strung carefully to cast a glow above and sparkle on the ripples of the river.

"You know, you didn't have to kidnap me just to get me to wear a blindfold?" The excited widening of her pupils before she ties the blindfold over her eyes has nothing to do with the lower light.
The sounds of the forest could not compare to the sight in front of her as Ben helps her blindfold off, it's truely breathtaking. Sadie gasps and her breathing hitches as her hands come to cover the way her jaw hangs low in shock. Sadie is frozen at the care and attention of her boyfriend, rooted in place at his gift. So thoughtful and perfect and all Sadie can do is stand there, tears prickling at the corners of her eyes.

“Come on, there’s a little more to this,” he encourages her as he slides his hands in a brush at her arms to take her hands and lead her walking backwards to the sheltered blankets. One hand released, he draws back the overlap to open a way inside for her. He kneels down on the edge of the blankets beside her before drawing over the basket. There is a small giftbox on top of a small bundle held in a roll with a ribbon and bow. Beneath, a set of towels, bottles of water, and a box of her favorite candy.

"I love you so bloody much."
no subject
The present he made her involved far more effort, but that can wait until she is ready.

"I'm going to have a tough act to follow next year that's for sure."
no subject
The comment regarding their next anniversary celebration gets him to laugh once and he lifts a hand to brush lightly in her hair with his fingers, “At least you have a year to figure it out. Though, I’m pretty sure anything with you will make me happy.”
Only once Sadie begins to relax more through her arms and shoulders does Benjiro reach to the basket with his other arm kept around her. He nudges the gift box aside, and picks up the rolled bundle to hold beside Sadie in offer, “This will clear all of this up.” Should Sadie take it and undo the ribbon, the bundle unfolds into a teal swimsuit of her size.
no subject
"This is brilliant, Ben, and we should get right to it before we do anything else!"
no subject
“Probably. It shouldn’t be too cold yet, but that won’t last,” he answers in agreement. Hence the pile of blankets for when they finish. Reaching into the basket and inside a towel, he pulls out a pair of swim trunks for himself. Then, his attention turns to his button up shirt, and his smile fades into a look of concentration as he delicately starts to undo the buttons from the top down. Ripping off a button would put a flat note to the night, so he has to go slow.
no subject
"Would you like a hand with that?" Sadie slides up behind her boyfriend, arms snaking around his waist as she leans on his back and purrs, "I've had practice if you were worried about my ability."
no subject
Halfway down the shirt when Sadie speaks up to make her offer verbally with an accompanying hand to his waist and audible purr, Benjiro flinches at the shoulders as his hands pause and his cheeks color rapidly. Turning his head to look at her, he has a shy smile, “I would never doubt your skill. ...and yes, I actually would appreciate a hand.” He would never ask, but he has less reservation about accepting a kind offer. To make it easier, he moves to stand up slowly.
no subject
"Much better," Purring and a tiptoe and Sadie is now in the perfect position to pepper kisses along Ben's jaw, each kiss crepping closer and closer to his lips.
no subject
Once that kiss breaks, he whispers with one eye peeking open, “...right to it before anything else, hm?” His tone is teasing, but he takes a chance to return the favor as he kisses back along her jaw and slips the last right below where her jaw and neck meet.
Rather than separating, he keeps hold of her with only his hand leaving her waist to lean forward as he steps his feet back half a pace. It brings him down to her height, and gives him space to work his way out of his pants and pull off his socks and shoes.
no subject
"What can I say, I know what I like and that very much includes you. Oh!" Sadie mewls happily at the kiss at the edge of her jaw, her arms tighten about Ben's neck.
"You are The Worst." Clearly he is anything but, her pupils large enough for Ben to see himself reflected in them as he leans down to Sadie's height and the mottled flush of her skin tell a very different story as she rests her forehead against his and taps their noses together.
"Need any more help there?" Sadie asks cheekily.
no subject
Coming down to see her flushed excitement, his own face still feels heated. At her offer, his lips split into a toothy grin, “Tempting, but I think I can manage. We both need to cool off with a dip.” He does indeed make the swap from boxers to trunks, his toes lifting the trunks from the ground to his hand with a bend of the knee. As he does, he keeps her attention with foreheads together, “You’ve been ridiculously patient while I get control back, and I promise we can indulge again soon. I’m almost there...just, not yet. Not tonight.”
Fully prepared for swimming, he straightens back into standing as he steps close with his body and puts his hand to her waist, “But anything else...simply name it.”
no subject
Removing her arms from Ben's neck as he stands to his full height Sadie regards the river thoughtfully. "Anything else huh?" The river looked deep enough...
"I want you to throw me."
no subject
Once her arms come down from his neck and shoulders, he releases her to slide out of his shirt sleeves and fold the garment to drop to lay on his discarded pants.
“...pardon?” he starts when her request catches him by surprise, but his smile remains, “Throw you where precisely?”
no subject
"Into the river," Sadie points at a section of the river that looks particularly deep, "I bet you could get me so amazing air time."
no subject
After all, he made an offer, and that demands his attention.
Benjiro follows her indicating point and his smile grows into an outright grin, “It may take a few attempts to find the ideal arc, as we should work up to the maximum height where you don’t quite reach the bottom on the other end.” He already has a rough idea of how deep it is from when he initially was scoping out this part of the river for their private celebration.
no subject
"I'm ready when you are!"
no subject
“Cannonball position then if you would,” he requests. Once she is curled appropriately, he picks her up by her pelvis and sets her on his shoulder. Walking a few strides down river and nearer to the bank, he lobs her straight off his shoulder from beneath into an arc to sail up at a roughly 60 degree angle.
The water on the other side is chilled but not freezing.
no subject
She quickly breeches the surface to reassure Ben that she is okay still cackling away, her ears flicking wildly to dislodge the water.
"That was brilliant!" She She crows as she scrambles up onto the bank, "One more time, please Ben!"
no subject
Walking into the edge of the water to meet her, he offers a hand up onto the bank and grins, “Sadie, I could do this all night. In fact, I might join you after this next one.” Curious of the landing, he asks as he holds both hands open at the ready, “How far from the bottom did you sink?” Depending on how much safe space remained, he could adjust the arc higher and with a bit more power to it.
no subject
no subject
“Ready?” he asks to confirm before sending her into the air on nearly the same path with a slightly higher angle and a touch more force behind it.
no subject
"We'll have to see how big a wave we make although we might wash the tent away if it's too big." She grins, "Ready to go! Three! Two! One!"
Sadie's flight is much the same as before except her hoots are even louder as Ben delivers on his promise of more airtime before she plunges into the water. Once she floats back up to the surface she shifts to floating on her back and pats the surface of the water the same way she pats the bed to get Ben to snuggle.
"Come on in, the water's lovely!"
no subject
Benjiro follows her countdown cue and launches Sadie with calculated precision to maximize her flight. Her boisterous sounds, amplified in this second go, draw stronger laughter from him. She comes more slowly back into view, but Benjiro is relaxed as he stands to observe with a delighted smile.
The pat and her verbal invitation split his smile into a grin, and he walks back into the trees. After giving himself enough distance, he sprints back into view and leaps up and outward to sail through the air and crash into the water surface with arms and legs extended up and curled respectively with a resounding exclamation, “やったあああ!” The height of his jump does not match Sadie’s, but his strength shows - as does his weight when he sends a heavy splash into the air on impact. He aimed near Sadie, but not so close she would get doused by the splash.
Coming back up, he laughs as he treads and pulls his arms through a few strokes to catch up with Sadie, “Oh that felt good!” He doesn’t often get to let loose, but in the water is the one place he can.
no subject
"GO BEN GO! BOMB! BOMB! BOMB!"
Sadie gets to enjoy the sight of Ben's strength at work and woops appropriately as he makes far bigger waves and Ben's clear enjoyment feeds Sadie's excitement and mischievousness as Ben swims over.
"It definitely does feel good," Sadie unashamedly admires the planes of Ben's arms and torso and the way the water drips off of his hair as her next works drop down into a very familiar register, "But it could feel even more good..."
Sadie moves in closer to Ben, her flirty smile a promise of things to come as she raises her arms to drape them over Ben's shoulder and...
Slap!
Sadie slaps the water between them sending a burst of water towards Ben's face as she dives below the surface, cackling all the while as she starts to swim away.
no subject
Only to get startled by the sudden splash right into his face. Inhaling a tad of it as a result, he coughs a few times as he starts to laugh. That little trickster!
“Hey! You get back here!” he calls from the surface before sucking in a deep breath to plunge downwards after her. As an experienced swimmer, he had a good chance of catching her prior to gaining his strength. Now, it is almost guaranteed. As such, he is putting forth the effort to gain on her, but not so much as to make the breath he took a waste.
Following any turns she takes, he waits until he could make a grab for her ankle to instead put on a burst of speed to swim around beside her and further still to put himself in her path as he turns to face her with a smirk.
no subject
Despite her zig-zagging Ben does eventually shoot past her, Sadie excepting her loss with grace by sticking her tongue out at Ben and swimming closer to poke his cheek followed by a quick peck in the exact same place.
"You win," Despite their current watery surrounding Sadie's voice is nearly as clear to Ben's ears as if they were surrounded by air, "Claim your victory prize if you must."
Sadie ragdolls dramatically in the water, the current of the river just enough for her to drift and bump against Ben's chest as she sighs dramatically.
no subject
Of course, her dramatic surrender from words to the limp drift in the current makes him give up the last of his breath in a laugh made only of bubbles. Only the addition of a fainting couch could ham it up another notch. Lungs beginning to ache more deeply for fresh oxygen, he scoops her into his arms in a cradled hold and kicks to the surface. Inhaling deeply from the cooling night air, he takes a couple breaths before he actually releases Sadie only to duck under the water and instead come up and catch her into a hold folded over his shoulders. She can talk underwater, but it would not translate into the air.
Turning his head to smile at her on his shoulder as he treads the water, he comments, “If I had a way to keep breathing, it’d be really fun to give you a pair of flippers.” That would make for one long, difficult chase.
no subject
"Next time we should bring some scuba gear because that honestly does sound fun," She agrees, gently brushing the wet strands of Ben's hair off of his forehead, "There must be something we could do now that could increase your submersible time..."
Sadie pauses for a moment as an admittedly ridiculous idea comes to mind. Ridiculous and exciting all at once.
"Ben, do you know how much oxygen humans exhale?"
no subject
His head leans to follow that touch to brush his hair into a slightly neater style. A soft nod given in agreement, he replies, “I’m certain I could rent it after the water starts to warm in the spring. The river will warm before the ocean after all. As for doing something now, I don’t have any hose on hand or else I could go really low tech.”
Then, Sadie asks him another question with a very telling look that has him raising a brow with a smile at the ready, “...at sea level the atmosphere is composed of nearly 21% oxygen. Humans use about 4 to 5% each breath. So no less than 15% oxygen, which is actually the composition of atmosphere around 2,700 m above sea level. There is a town in the States that high.”

no subject
“For the sake of science, we should definitely find out if that could work.”
no subject
Tapping Ben on the arm Sadie then poses dramatically, pointing back at the river, "Alright then Ben, let's be 'aving you! Engage yeeting mechanisms!"
no subject
Not having quite left the river, he takes her dramatic command as a challenge to launch her from the water surface. More strength will have to come from his arms, and he has the strength to spare. “Aye aye, Captain!” he replies with enthusiasm, and diving under briefly to free her from his shoulders, Benjiro comes up again behind her and lifts her from the water by her hips. He waits only for her to tuck for safety, then promptly launches her through the air upstream back to the original point of entry into the river. There is a touch less height in this throw, but he manages the distance perfectly.
With a grin, he dives under the water to swim after her.
Hell week over, time for cute!
It's almost silly how quickly Ben catches up to her but Sadie is content to float in the current starting up towards the surface, quiet and serene until Ben needs an oxygen top up.
