[Network - Open] [Audio]

Date: [31st October]
Characters: [Sadie Moore and the Number I still haven't actually decided on even though its been months]
Sadie's tone of voice as it comes through the Network is unexpected unless anyone had managed to spend any significant amount of time with her and her brother. It is taunting in a way that only teenagers who have siblings can manage. Her words are probably confusing to the rest of the Network as well.

"You are a bad dog."

[He is pretty grouchy still about having been demasked like that, but he... actually does still feel pretty bad about having hurt Nel.

So he responds will less grouch than anyone else might be greeted with.]

I am, in fact, English Champion Bumblecorn He's A Jolly Decent Fellow.

[When she hears a response while working on something away from the page of her sketchbook, she turns back to it and replies quickly.]

You have a long name, but it sounds happy!

Do you like when someone uses your whole name? My name is Ornella but I like when people call me Nel instead.

You may call me Chad.

Everyone does.

[It'd actually be weird if someone used his official name at this point. Nobody has used it in years.

...For a fact. He suddenly has to wonder why.]

Okay! [That has no clear connection to his full name but if he prefers Chad, she’ll use it!]

How are you feeling today? Yesterday was [There is a definite pause as Nel struggles with an apt description.] odd.

[grumble grumble grumble

In the end, he admits:]

I keep knocking things over.

[Waiting as he grumbles, she frowns at the admission. If nothing more, at least now she knows an Echo is what made him strong.]

Are you in trouble because of it? [Do dogs get time outs?]

[personal profile] channingchanningchanning 2018-11-20 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
So far, they've been blaming the children.

[Because how would a dog be able to knock the things over that he's knocking over?]
vernal_miss: (Lavender)

[personal profile] vernal_miss 2018-11-21 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
[As a child herself, that doesn't sound nice, but Chad isn't really in a position to communicate with his family the way she can with her own.]

That's lucky. Is it getting easier not to?
channingchanningchanning: (pomeranian: sad)

[personal profile] channingchanningchanning 2018-11-21 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm doing my best.

[Or, in other words. No.

It just hasn't been long enough for him to get used to it.]
vernal_miss: (Jasmine)

[personal profile] vernal_miss 2018-11-21 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That’s all you can do then.

[A brief pause, then another question follows with extra question marks added around it.]

Can I ask you some questions about being a dog? Or would that be rude?

[personal profile] channingchanningchanning 2018-11-21 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[...He'd reject outright if anyone else asked, but he still feels bad for knocking Nel over. And. Just. Child.]

What questions?
vernal_miss: (Sycamore)

[personal profile] vernal_miss 2018-11-22 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[There are so many questions. SO. MANY.]

Things like...
How do you think of the humans you live with? Are they your family or are they just humans that feed you?
Do dogs not like cameras? It’s so hard to take pictures looking at the camera!
Why are human socks so good? And shoes too.

[UHM.

Some of those are just.

no. He feels like those are not safe to answer. Especially not while others are listening in.

But some he feels are safe to answer.]

The humans I live with are my family. They say so themselves, too.

And people stare at you while they take pictures. It's the staring that is the problem.
vernal_miss: (Tulip)

[personal profile] vernal_miss 2018-11-23 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes sense. Staring can be really awkward.

What’s your favorite thing to do?

And do you have any human questions?

[Fair is fair, right?]

I like eating.

[...huh. He did not expect that. Hm.]

How does the food get into cans and pouches?

[personal profile] vernal_miss 2018-12-01 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[She knows the basics about this, but a quick web search helps.]

Eating is really great, I agree!

Food gets put in cans and pouches at a factory. They have something called an assembly line, which means that they do one thing at each machine and pass it along a moving belt to have the next step done. So the food has to get mixed together at the first machine, then cooked at the next, then funneled in parts inside at the next ones, then sealed up, and finally packaged with other cans or pouches.

[Given a minute, she'll draw out the basic idea in a diagram of a long rolling belt with boxes representing the machines and the item on the belt changing between each one that then drops to another belt with the cans followed by a closed can, and finally a box.]

And how does the food get into the factory?

[What does food even look like when it gets to a factory? No matter if it are spaghetti loops or dog food.]
vernal_miss: (Willow)

[personal profile] vernal_miss 2018-12-05 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
[This is much easier to answer.]

Trucks deliver it. I think usually from farms where it’s grown.
channingchanningchanning: (pomeranian: best dog)

[personal profile] channingchanningchanning 2018-12-07 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
And how is it grown?

[He sounds a bit impatient now.]
vernal_miss: (Lavender)

[personal profile] vernal_miss 2018-12-08 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
The same way farms grow the food in grocery stores. Plants stay in a field and get water and sun, and livestock gets fed and cared for until they’re all big enough. Crops, the plants in the fields, get picked.

[Nel doodles out a basic looking farm with a barn, corn, and cows.]
channingchanningchanning: (pomeranian: better than you)

[personal profile] channingchanningchanning 2018-12-09 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
I know what a farm looks like. [He sounds very prissy right now.

...So somewhere between a farm and things getting off a farm things get turned into food?]
vernal_miss: (Jasmine)

[personal profile] vernal_miss 2018-12-09 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, sorry. I didn't know if you had.

[Getting out to the church is one thing, but going to a real farm, she wasn't certain.]

[personal profile] channingchanningchanning 2018-12-10 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I watch a lot of TV. And I've been to many shows. [And a decent amount of scenic photoshoots take place at farms, despite all the posh dog paws having to be wiped a lot when walking around there.]
vernal_miss: (Tulip)

[personal profile] vernal_miss 2018-12-12 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sometimes the cats watch the tv at home briefly with them, so that much sounds normal.]

Going out to a farm is fun! You can eat the food there but it’s better to wash it first.

What kind of shows have you gone to?
channingchanningchanning: (pomeranian: best dog)

[personal profile] channingchanningchanning 2018-12-14 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Championship shows!

[Said very proudly.]
