The sound of his name said in such a sharp tone startles him into flinching more upright out of his slouched posture. He turns his head to look to his cousin, a grimace behind his face mask. Of all the questions he could have asked...

He had made a serious miscalculation. “I had no issues the first time I climbed up, but I couldn’t see above the head from there.” Trying to move the conversation off of himself and to what he had learned, he adds, “Its head is upriver about a mile from the mouth and the tip of its tail is roughly a mile and a half out under the ocean. Maybe two.” Hence why he had tried to go up again.
