"Thom! They were listening! I told you they were scary!" Gizmo darts around Thom again as he tries to hide from the mice.

Thom glances worriedly between his friend and the army of mice that were blocking the way back.

"I'm sure it will be okay," he says uncertainly. "It looks like we can't go back, but maybe we can find another way out."

He stands up and tightly grips the light he'd brought along.

"Let's go. We just have to be brave, okay?"

Gizmo gives the mice one more frightened look, and then nods.

"Mmm, I can be brave if Thom is."

Side by side, the two of them go deeper into the tunnels.
