On several counts, you're most definitely right, Ben.
[And the memories have done so, at that.]
If you cannot get or stay out of the 50-meter range, make sure you can quickly cover your eyes and nose, if not get yourself entirely behind cover.
If you want to investigate the remains of an already-exploded package, at least let people know if you find anything new
in
them.
[Better to get more eyes on it, if people really want to risk it.]
