Sadie doesn't fully register the way Ben looks her, occupied with her parents as she is, but both Raquel and Christopher do, Raquel leans over and turns the coffee machine back on, which Sadie can't help but be amused by her mother's usual response to a challenging situation. Because this was a ridiculously challenging situation, "We won't mention anything about this to your aunts, Ben, but knowing what I do now, I think you'll need to have a talk with them eventually. We'll be there to back you up when you do."
Sadie is just relieved that her parents seem to be taking this well, far better than she could have ever hoped. At least for now, she'll wait a few days before speaking to them again about things in a bit more detail and how she's been affected by it all specifically.
"Mum, do you mind if Ben and I head out after lunch, we were thinking of helping the people in town?"
It's a bit of a relief when Raquel nods, getting out and about would let everyone have the space they need to process in peace and quiet
